Environmental Leadership

Metallurg Vanadium's operations, our personnel, and the very nature of our products and services have a proven track record of environmental stewardship. We are a partner to North America's metals and refinery industries, offering an environmentally responsible "full-circle" solution that promotes the intelligent use and conservation of natural resources.  Metallurg Vanadium is committed to continued environmental improvement.

We are proud to have a full-time Environmental Manager on staff at our Cambridge, Ohio facility, and a material handling system designed with strict environmental controls. Our operations produce NO liquid waste stream, and minimal solid waste. Our EPA air permit and integrated safeguards demonstrate our commitment to leading-edge environmental standards. Our operations produce extremely low levels of sulfur emissions, and our flue gas desulfurization unit allows even tighter sulfur control.

Both our disposition of spent refinery catalysts for the refinery industry and our production of quality vanadium-based alloying products for the steel industry are designed around tightly controlled and streamlined material-handling protocols.

Raw materials are safely warehoused in our enclosed storage facility. Metal-bearing raw materials - including fly ash and virtually all types of hydroprocessing catalysts - are processed directly into finished alloying products. This eliminates the environmental risks associated with land disposal. For spent catalysts in particular, this permanent disposition is much safer than landfill solutions.

We are an RCRA facility for K171/172 hydrotreating/hydrorefining catalysts. Metallurg Vanadium's use of secondary metal-bearing raw materials also reduces the need for new mines. Our "full-circle" solution and the flexibility of our pyrometallurgical process mean we can utilize a wide range of vanadium-bearing materials, turning them into high-quality metallurgical products, and reducing their ultimate impact on the environment.
