FEROVAN®

Metallurg Vanadium's low-aluminum ferrovanadium is known as FEROVAN®. This precision-engineered product offers distinct advantages to steelmakers, including maximum recoveries, and a range of other benefits, including:

  • FEROVAN® is ISO 9001:2000 certified.
  • Oxidation ProtectionFEROVAN® is engineered with a dilute vanadium content and contains Si to protect the V from oxidation.
  • Low Melting Point – with a 2675° F (1468° C) liquidus, FEROVAN® is the lowest-melting-point FeV commercially available, resulting in maximum solubility and the highest consistent recoveries.
  • High DensityFEROVAN®'s density of 6.4 g/cc (90% of liquid steel's density) ensures good melt penetration which minimizes alloy flotation and front-to-back ladle analysis variations.
  • Low Carbon ContentFEROVAN®'s 50:1 vanadium : carbon ratio permits use on the lowest-carbon steels to the highest-carbon steels, without requiring additional carbon removal by the steelmaker.
  • Perfect for EAF steel since the vanadium readily combines with existing nitrogen without increasing nitrogen or carbon content.
  • Low Aluminium ContentFEROVAN®'s controlled, low-aluminum content offers maximum castability and minimizes nozzle blockages.
  • Application/VersatilityFEROVAN® is the most effective vanadium additive for killed and semi-killed steels and alloyed cast irons. It is ideal for a broad range of applications: structural steel, HSLA steel, reinforcing bar, line pipe, and rail steel. It is also suitable for primary melting in electric arc, induction and basic oxygen furnaces, and secondary refining in vacuum degassers and LMF stations.
  • Custom PackagingFEROVAN® is packaged to meet customers' requirements on heat weights, vanadium aims and material handling.
  • No Hydrogen PickupFEROVAN®, in its solid alloy form, does not absorb or retain water or hydrogen as do porous, non-melted vanadium additives.
  • QualityFEROVAN® is produced under the strict quality assurance programs of our technical department and is managed by extensive use of process control charts to meet the most exacting demands of today's steel producers and consumers.
  • Strategically located plant, fast delivery, custom packaging, warehousing.
