For the fifth consecutive year, Metallurg Vanadium Corporation (METVAN) has contributed to the enrichment of local school districts. Buckeye Trail, Cambridge, John Glenn and Meadowbrook high schools each received a check for $1,000 designated to support their respective math and science departments.

METVAN has a strong history of support for education locally.

"Through these donations, we're able to affirm our commitment to those academic disciplines that instill analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills in students. These are important skills for our current and future employees to acquire as local companies like METVAN compete in a global marketplace," said METVAN President Hoy E. Frakes Jr.

Metallurg Vanadium Corporation is a wholly-owned subsidiary of AMG Advanced Metallurgical Group N.V., a global leader in the production of highly engineered specialty metal products and advanced vacuum furnace systems. Located in Cambridge, METVAN specializes in the environmentally beneficial conversion of oil refinery and power plant waste products into specialty metals used by global steel producers in automotive, energy transmission and construction applications. By using materials which would otherwise be discarded as waste, Metallurg Vanadium encourages environmental stewardship, energy conservation and resource recovery, making it the environmental leader in this global industry. METVAN is the leading North American producer of ferrovanadium and has two primary product lines: FEROVAN®, its ferrovanadium alloy used in the production of steel to give it strength, and FeNiMoly® which is a valuable additive utilized in the production of stainless and carbon steels.
